VOCO announces the launch of Profluorid® Varnish + BioMin®, a next-generation fluoride varnish formulated to support enhanced remineralization and long-lasting enamel protection. The dual-action formula combines the proven benefits of 5% sodium fluoride with BioMin® bioglass technology, quickly delivering bioavailable calcium and phosphate ions that work synergistically with fluoride to strengthen tooth structure.
Building on the trusted foundation of VOCO’s original Profluorid Varnish, the new formulation incorporates BioMin®, an innovative bioactive crystalline material developed at Queen Mary University in London and widely used in bioactive oral care products. When exposed to saliva, the invisible and flavorless bioglass dissolves, releasing calcium and phosphate ions that support remineralization while helping form a protective fluorapatite layer on enamel surfaces.
In addition to supporting enamel strength, Profluorid Varnish + BioMin helps provide enhanced protection against dentin hypersensitivity. BioMin releases ultra-fine crystals that penetrate dentin tubules and promote fluorapatite formation, effectively sealing the tubules and providing a long-term desensitizing effect while improving resistance to acid attacks.
The varnish is based on VOCO’s long-lasting Pro-Colophony formula, allowing clinicians to apply the material in a thin, clear layer that adheres well to the tooth surface for extended fluoride release. Its pleasant taste, neutral smell, and smooth feel contribute to high patient acceptance and make application especially comfortable for dental hygienists.
Profluorid Varnish + BioMin® contains ADA-recommended* 5% sodium fluoride and is available in four flavors: mint, caramel, bubble gum, and cherry. The varnish is offered in both tubes and convenient single-dose delivery systems to accommodate a variety of clinical workflows.
