Dental manufacturer once more donates 20,000 euros to the aid organisation
Helping people, who would otherwise be left alone or die from their diseases or injuries – this is the mission of the international aid organisation Doctors Without Borders. At VOCO’s headquarters in Cuxhaven, Sabine Zante, surgical nurse from Hamburg, reported in a moving presentation on her work in Nigeria where she has helped numerous suffering people from the infectious disease Noma to a better life. Both institutions maintain an intensive partnership for years: Since 2019, VOCO supports Doctors Without Borders with an annual donation of 20,000 euros.
Where products and projects are usually discussed, the focus was now on a disease that is fatal for many people – but also on hope and help. In the packed conference room, the employees of VOCO listened to the explanations of the surgical nurse, who has already completed several missions in various crisis areas. One of her special projects is the Noma hospital in Nigeria. Children and adults are treated and operated here, who would have little chance of leading a halfway normal life without this help The infectious bacterial disease destroys bones and tissue in the face within a few days and often leads to death if not treated. Noma mainly affects children under the age of seven.
“We have been impressed by the commitment of Doctors Without Borders for many years. The first-hand presentation of the volunteer’s very personal experiences and impressions have impressively confirmed this. We very much hope that our donation can contribute a small part to helping people and saving lives”, says Olaf Sauerbier, managing director of VOCO.
The family company is again foregoing Christmas presents for customers and partners and instead donates the sixth time in a row 20,000 euros to the world's largest organisation for emergency medical aid. The total donation is 120,000 euros.
“Companies have the opportunity to help shape the society in which we live. I find the way in which the VOCO GmbH fulfils this responsibility impressive. We would like to thank everyone involved for their great support over the years and for the very generous donation once again. Without commitment like yours, our often life-saving missions would not be possible”, Sabine Zante thanks VOCO.
